Crane load indication accuracy

1917.46(a)(1)(ii)

The accuracy of the load indicating device, weight-moment device, or overload protection device shall be such that any indicated load (or limit), including the sum of actual weight hoisted and additional equipment or “add ons” such as slings, sensors, blocks, etc., is within the range between 95 percent (5 percent underload) and 110 percent (10 percent overload) of the actual true total load. Such accuracy shall be required over the range of daily operating variables reasonably anticipated under the conditions of use.

Potain MA 13 with V1 processor and remote

Had to verify where the jumpers were at on the processor and then match that up with the chart attached and change the dip switches in the remote to get it to work.

This will just get the remote to talk to the crane but doesn’t mean the display will work.  In this case they didn’t match and I had to order new card for processor which is easier to change out then the remote card.

Err7 message on drive (ATV58)

At start up, all drives go through self test but trolley immediately displays error message.  Schneider Altivar 58

Error message not in manual.  According to drive manual, in can be faulty communication with keypad or console, or sensor internal in drive checking for current supply has failed.

Potain 972 (MA13) Drive Replacement

ATV 58 drives that were originally installed on the crane have been replaced with ATV (MGC) 31 drives.  In the “kit” there are also additional blocks and a time delay module.

I was unable to fit the time delay module on the rail with the other contactors.  I ended up placing it on the rail directly below the resistors (see image).  Time delay module needs to be set for .300 ms ( referred to by Tomas as .30 ms).  Open the clear door and set the range to .1 – 1 s  and the dial to 3.  When wiring time delay module, you’ll see it 2 separate places on the wiring schematic.  It should have an input on #15 and (xx).  On the bottom, should be the #18 (which should switch to +24V when the module is activated (when module is activated, there is a small green light on at the bottom right corner).  The other bottom socket (xx) should by ground (noted as 0V in schematic).

The connector block to add to K800M contactor (trolley) is the larger of the 2.  It needs #53 and #54 connected.

The smaller connector block mounts to K940M (hydraulic pump for erection)
